Straight from the heart of warehouse nights, our next curator of favourite beats is keeping the city’s rich electronic legacy alive—one deep, dusty groove at a time. From forgotten bangers to raw house cuts, his mission is clear: honour the roots, fuel the future.

Harry West is a selector based in Newcastle, founder of the @groooves.daily music page, and co-owner of the Tribute Records label and party series. Over the past three years, he has used Groooves.Daily as a platform to share the music he loves—highlighting tracks from the ‘90s and promoting a new wave of artists who keep that authentic sound alive. Tribute Records was launched in 2025, aiming to release deep, raw, old-school house and garage—genres that have become increasingly rare today.

Funkydory - Free Your Mind (Early Morning Mix)

"This timeless piece of deep house has every element necessary for perfection, and more. The bass is brilliantly written and controls the melody for the first half of the song. Then when the piano chords are introduced, the track takes a deeper more melancholy tone, in which the two play off each other nicely and create a perfect groove. The simplicity of the track really shines through at this point, allowing the melodies to be the forefront of the track, accompanied by snappy snares, hats, and a thumping kick. The addition of the strings and vocal stabs at around 4 minutes further elevates the track into something really special."

Hazard – Te (Right Hand Mix)

"The delayed elements within create a lovely rolling flow to the track that keeps you moving to every beat. The Italo-house influences are strong , but accompanied by the spoken word vocal, a more modern/futuristic tone is created which works beautifully. The warm and deep bass drives the song along as a prominent feature of the track, along with the subtle tribal percussion that give the song a celebratory feel."

Valerie Malcom – You And I (Dance Mix)

"Slick and soulful two steppy goodness. Really like the use of a more classical piano in a garage track, opposed to the more spacey warped chords seen more commonly in garage at the time, creates a more soulful feel which paired with the vocal works brilliantly. The shorter hissy stabs remind of of MJ Cole also which is never a bad thing!"

Andre King And Cpen – Dancin

"A real party starter this track, built around a brilliant catchy vocal that I’m suprised hasn’t been used commonly in modern productions. The track begins with a lovely slapping clap, bongos and shaker that create a tribal element to the track which is playful. The addition of the bass is a real face scruncher, full of subbyness and growl, a nice contradiction to the playful drum patterns and electro chords."

The Underground Workshop – Does Your Mamma Know (Original Mix)

"Absolute classic this one, a heavy hitter that will never sound bad on the dance-floor. The gritty bass accompanied with stripped back, hard hitting kicks and snares make it perfect for them mega sound systems. The whispering vocal is so profound also, giving the track a very evil feel."
