For those who still don’t get it: Revibed is not a normal download platform
Revibed Weekly
Hi everyone,

First of all, thank you to everyone who supported our move back to albums.

We see you. We love you. And we are genuinely proud that you are here with us. Later this year, you will have a chance to properly feel how grateful we are.

But we also have to be honest. We are disappointed by some of the criticism.

Especially from those who keep writing to us about the decision to make new releases album-only for the first 24 months. We explained the reasoning in more detail here: Back to albums, back to what makes Revibed Revibed

Revibed exists to bring more music, more artists and more labels back into proper digital circulation. Music that was forgotten, under-reissued, never properly digitised, or left outside the modern listening economy.

And if you follow our blog, receive our newsletters, or even just keep an eye on our Instagram, it is not hard to see that this is working.

Every month, more artists sign with us. Every month, more music moves out of the grey area and into a proper rights-cleared, restored and culturally useful digital life.

Revibed is not a normal download platform.

On Bandcamp, Juno or Beatport, an artist usually arrives with finished digital files and uploads them. That is not what happens here.

At Revibed, we often have to find the artist or rights holder first. We have to identify who owns the music. We have to source the best physical copy, sometimes from vinyl, DAT or tape. We have to digitise it, restore it, master it, clear the rights, prepare the release, tell the story, and only then make it available.

This is exactly why you can come to Revibed and find music you cannot find anywhere else. It is also why Revibed can make your DJ sets, your productions, your radio shows and your digging life feel different from everyone else’s.

Selling new releases as albums for the first 24 months benefits the artists first. And since the artists are the reason this whole thing exists, we believe their interests should come first.

After 24 months, albums can open up for track-by-track purchase. Is that fair? Honestly, we think it is.

In any industry, exclusivity and craft cost more.

Nobody is shocked that New Balance Made in UK trainers cost several times more than standard models. Why? Because they are made with more care, more human work, more attention. Nobody is shocked that a G-Class costs many times more than a cheap mass-produced SUV.

Revibed is also a hand-built workshop.

There is no magic automation here. There is no endless anonymous pipeline of disposable tracks. Everything is handled by people. By hand. With time, care, mistakes, corrections, chasing, listening, restoring and believing.

But let’s also be practical.

Maybe you do not want to buy every album at full album price. Maybe your budget is limited. That is normal. We understand that too.

So participate in pre-orders.

Become a Founder. Become a Contributor.

That is the whole point of the system.

You can get the music earlier, often much cheaper, sometimes three or four times cheaper than buying after release. You also help decide what comes back into circulation. You do not just consume the archive, you help build it.

Isn’t that the privilege?

To have early access to fresh reissues of rare music, and to have the power to help initiate those reissues yourself?

Revibed is a platform of shared possibility. It was built to dig through the vast world of unreissued analogue music, find its authors and rights holders, and turn forgotten records into high-quality, rights-cleared digital editions.

And if after all that you are still unhappy, then of course, there is another route.

You can buy your own transfer equipment. Learn how to do proper club-focused restoration and mastering. Spend tens or hundreds of euros on rare records. Pay for shipping. Pay customs. Pay taxes. Hope the copy is clean enough. Then, if you sell it on afterwards, possibly lose up to half of what you paid.

We genuinely do not object.

In fact, write to us afterwards. Tell us about the experience. Tell us whether it really felt easier and cheaper than simply buying the album on Revibed.

Anton
